This week, I talked about Connor McDavid&#8217;s super-human healing powers, the Oilers&#8217; recent roster moves, recapped the Monday night game on Prime, and much more.
Starting the podcast, how could I not talk about what happened in the US last night with the presidential election? Not that I wanted to dive into politics at all, but the reaction to the results was quite a wild dive into the human experience. Moving along quickly, I then recapped <a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2024/11/05/oilers-played-well-but-silver-linings-dont-pay-the-bills-fall-3-0-to-the-new-jersey-devils/">Monday&#8217;s Oilers game on Amazon Prime</a>, which was the first of four nights we&#8217;ll have on the streaming platform. From the product to the experience to the presentation, I offered my take on what it was like to watch hockey differently.
Keeping with the Oilers, I kicked off the news with the stunning revelation that <a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2024/11/06/connor-mcdavid-could-return-against-golden-knights-after-skating-on-oilers-top-line/">Connor McDavid will be back in the Oilers lineup</a> only nine days after suffering an ankle injury on his first shift against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Given that he was supposed to be <a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2024/10/30/oilers-captain-connor-mcdavid-out-two-to-three-weeks-with-ankle-injury/">out of the lineup for 2-3 weeks</a>, seeing him on the top line at Wednesday&#8217;s morning skate was certainly a surprise. Then again, should we be surprised? If there&#8217;s one thing Connor McDavid has done repeatedly in his career, it&#8217;s defying the odds when it comes to his recovery time, and this ankle injury was just the latest example.
Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about off-leash dogs before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. The inbox was quiet but mighty this week, but that didn&#8217;t mean you fine folks didn&#8217;t still make me laugh anyway.
