For the first time in weeks, I recorded Better Lait Than Never on the right day and at the scheduled time. It&#8217;s the gift for your ear feelings that you didn&#8217;t know you needed. On this week&#8217;s podcast, we discussed the <a href="https://oilersnation.com/combinations">Edmonton Oilers&#8217; injury issues</a>, what to expect from the last five games, and much more.
I started the podcast with a random collection of topics, from the stock market insanity to the weather warming up to one of my favourite dating shows, to loop everyone into my varied interests. Am I stupid? Yes. Do I care that I sometimes have the TV-watching habits of a teenage girl? No. I also spoke about how dumb I was last weekend when I went out drinking with my buddies and ended up buying PS5 games that I didn&#8217;t actually care about. *sigh*
Turning the podcast to the Oilers, how could I not start the news by looking at the devastating <a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2025/04/09/oilers-injury-update-ryan-nugent-hopkins-out-wednesday-against-blues-mcdavid-draisaitl-could-return-by-next-week/">run of injuries</a> the team is working through right now? It seems like every single night, the Oilers have someone else going down with an injury, and the problem is getting so bad that it almost feels like a black cloud is hanging over this team&#8217;s head right now. And with the playoffs right around the corner, Oilers fans are starting to wonder how healthy everyone can possibly be by the time Game 1 of the first round rolls around. How much difference can another week make? We&#8217;ll have to hope it&#8217;s a lot.
Finally, I wrapped up this week&#8217;s episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about frozen pizza prices before wrapping up the podcast with a very quiet round of voicemails. While the voicemail was whisper quiet this week, the limited messages that did get left were very funny anyway. As always, finishing up the show with your opinions is my favourite part of the whole thing and something I always look forward to most.
