<p>On Wednesday, the <a href="https://oilersnation.com/">Edmonton Oilers</a> claimed defenceman Travis Dermott off waivers from the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/minnesota-wild/line-combinations">Minnesota Wild</a>.</p>

<p>It is the second time Dermott has been snagged off the wire this season. In December, the Newmarket, Ontario native was put on waivers by the Oilers, <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/wild-claim-oilers-defenceman-travis-dermott-on-waivers">with the Wild claiming him</a> on Dec. 13.</p>
<p>The Oilers <a href="https://x.com/EdmontonOilers/status/1894837446665478226">announced</a> Dermott would report to the AHL&#8217;s Bakersfield Condors, indicating they were the only team to put a claim in on the blue liner.</p>
<p>The 28-year-old signed a <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/travis-dermott-earns-spot-with-oilers-signs-one-year-contract-with-775k-aav">one-year, two-way contract</a> with Edmonton in October, with a cap hit of $775,000. He earned the deal after being invited to training camp on a professional tryout. Prior to heading to Minnesota, Dermott played 10 games in Edmonton, failing to score a point while registering a plus/minus of -3, averaging a little over 13 minutes of ice.</p>
<p>Over the past two months with the Wild, Dermott has appeared in just nine games, playing close to 11:23 when in the lineup. He hasn&#8217;t played since Jan. 26 when the Wild defeated the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/chicago-blackhawks/line-combinations">Chicago Blackhawks</a>, 4-2.</p>
<p>With just 19 games on his record this season, Dermott is on his way to playing the least amount of games since the 2022-23 season, when he was limited to just 11 games with the <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/">Vancouver Canucks.</a></p>
<p>The former <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/utah-hockey-club/line-combinations">Arizona Coyote</a> also hasn&#8217;t scored a point since the 2023-24 campaign when he was with the organization before they moved to Utah.</p>
<p>Dermott began his NHL career with the <a href="https://theleafsnation.com/">Toronto Maple Leafs</a>, the team that took him in the second round, 34th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. He spent over four seasons with the Leafs before he was traded to the Canucks in March 2022.</p>
<p>After a little over a season with the Canucks, Dermott signed a one-year deal with the Coyotes.</p>
<p>In 348 career NHL games, the left-handed rearguard has posted 16 goals and 46 assists for 62 points, including five points in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games, all coming with Toronto.</p>
<p>The Oilers (34-20-4) are second in the Pacific Division, two points back of the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/vegas-golden-knights/line-combinations">Vegas Golden Knights</a> for first place. Edmonton is set to wrap up <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/gdb-58-0-oilers-defensive-game-must-tighten-up">its swing through the Sunshine State</a> on Thursday night, taking on the <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/florida-panthers/line-combinations">Florida Panthers</a> in a Stanley Cup Final rematch.</p>
