<p>When the Columbus Blue Jackets come to town on December 5th, the Oilers will honour him in a ceremony, presenting him with a &#8220;golden stick and commemorative Tiffany crystal for his accomplishment,&#8221; the Oilers <a href="https://www.nhl.com/oilers/news/release-oilers-to-honour-mcdavid-s-1-000-point-milestone">said Tuesday,</a> with a special tribute video happening, too.</p>
<p>That won&#8217;t be all he receives, however, as McDavid&#8217;s teammates will present him with a gift.</p>

<p>McDavid <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/connor-mcdavid-buries-pass-from-leon-draisaitl-for-1000th-nhl-point">scored his 1,000th point</a> on November 14th against the Nashville Predators, cashing in on a two-on-one, cross-ice pass from his hockey better half, Leon Draisaitl, as the Oilers went on to win 3-2 in overtime.</p>
<p>He became the fourth-fastest, and fourth-youngest player — at 27 years and 306 days old — in NHL history to hit the mark, trailing just Wayne Gretzky (424 games), Mario Lemieux (513) and Mike Bossy (656).</p>
<p>“Some of these things have hit me a little more emotionally than I would’ve thought,” said McDavid <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/the-day-after-17-0-connor-mcdavid-soaks-up-1000th-point-with-edmonton-oilers-teammates-whove-been-there-since-the-beginning">after that game against the Predators</a>. “You spend your whole life playing hockey and loving the game, and just wanting to play and make the NHL.</p>
<p>“1,000 points later, I’ve been doing it for 10 years now, and it’s pretty special. You take it for granted sometimes, and as I said, these moments give you a chance to look back and be grateful.”</p>
<p>His 1,000th point came 3,320 days after he <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/a-look-at-every-player-who-has-helped-oilers-captain-connor-mcdavid-reach-1000-points">scored his first point</a>, tipping home an Andrej Sekera point shot on October 13th, 2015, against then-Dallas Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen.</p>
<p>McDavid&#8217;s incoming gift from his teammates isn&#8217;t the only thing they&#8217;ve done for him, making a hilarious shirt — head manned by Draisaitl and Oilers equipment manager Brad Harrison — as well as a big cake presented after the game.</p>
